An Electromagnetic Speed Log System is being used to measure and display the speed and distance traveled by the ship. The system includes the EM Speed Log Transducer, which is hull fitting and, through proper connection cable and box, is connected to a processing and display unit. In addition, processing and display unit sends speed in NMEA 0183 and Distance in pulses to Retransmission unit (RTU) to interface with various equipments of a ship such as Gyro, Radar etc.
